Terrifier star David Howard Thornton proposed to Jada Christie in full Art the Clown costume at the Huntsville Comic & Pop Culture Expo in Huntsville, Ala.

Thornton announced his engagement on Instagram on April 18 alongside a video of the proposal

The couple, who started dating in July 2025, often attends horror-themed events together and shares a chihuahua named Lulu

Terrifier star David Howard Thornton popped the question — in character!

Thornton, who stars in the Damien Leone-helmed clown-slasher franchise as Art the Clown, proposed to his girlfriend of nine months, Jada Christie, while in full black-and-white clown costume and makeup over the weekend at the Huntsville Comic & Pop Culture Expo in Huntsville, Ala.

Thornton announced the happy news on Instagram on April 18, writing, "She said YES!!! @lapetitejada," alongside a video of the proposal.

In the clip, Christie covered her face in shock as Thornton asked her "Will you marry me?" while on bended knee. She then started jumping up and down in excitement and kissed Thornton before he slipped an engagement ring onto her left hand-ring finger. Afterward, the couple hugged and kissed again as onlookers clapped and cheered.

Congratulations filled the comments section.

"That’s how ya do it! 🤡✨🎉 Congratulations 🎈🎉 love you both!!" Leone commented. Thornton replied, "Thanks brother! Wish you had been here!"

Lauren LaVera, who starred in Terrifier 2 and Terrifier 3, said, "I was LITERALLY going to text you the other day to see if you’ve done it yet! 😭 I’m so happy for ya’ll. Many many years of love and happiness! ✨❤️🍾."

Actor and part-time clown David Arquette also commented, "❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏🤡🌈," while actor Jack Quaid wrote, "BUDDY! Congrats!!!!🎉🎉🎉."

In two Instagram Stories, Christie raved about her relationship with Thornton. In response to a meme of a photo of herself cuddled up to her fiancé dressed as Art with the caption "her and the guy she told you not to worry about," Christie wrote, "I don't usually post snarky things but this made me laugh. I came from a relationship where I had to beg to be treated right to being worshipped by David ❤️."

She continued, "I met David when I was still with the person who did not treat me right. But David was not the reason the relationship ended. My dad passed away and I realized how short life really is and how badly I needed change. We officially started dating in July and my life has changed for the better in so many ways. Thank you for all of the congratulations and well wishes you have sent ❤️."

Christie regularly gushes over Thornton on Instagram. He made his first appearance on her page in August, just a month after they started dating. She often accompanies him at horror-themed events and captioned a Jan. 18 post in part, "Endlessly grateful to share these experiences with you, @davidhowardthornton ❤️." He replied, "I always enjoy our adventures together! 🤡😘."

The couple shares a white chihuahua named Lulu.
